The Pintwood Derby features three racing classes. Choose the class that best fits your building style and competitive spirit!

Dimensions & Weight
- Must fit in box: 7" L × 2¾" W × 4" H
- Must clear center guide strip: ⅜" H × 1¾" W
- Maximum weight: 5oz
Construction
- Pre-cut kit vehicles allowed
- All decorations must be securely affixed
- Dry weights permitted (no liquids)
- Car cannot be altered after registration
Wheels & Axles
- Axles can be machined/polished
- Wheels can be sanded, machined, or changed
- Must maintain proper clearances
- Only graphite powder (no oil)
Propulsion
- Must be freewheeling
- No motors, engines, or rockets
- Gravity-powered only
Fewer restrictions, more creative freedom

Race Format
Heat Registration
Cars will run in heats. Once a heat is registered, racing begins.
Lane Runs
Each car runs once per lane on the track for fairness.
Final Time
We will drop your slowest heat. Your average time across all other runs determines your final finish time.
⚠️ Important Reminders
- No alterations after registration: Once your car is registered and inspected, it cannot be modified or handled until after racing.
- Graphite only: No lubrication oils are permitted. Only graphite powder may be used.
- Inspection: All cars will be inspected before racing to ensure compliance with class rules.
